Change from wartime production led to economic problems:
Depression: Prices and wages down --> business and farms failed
Labor unions struck, led to general strikes
In light of Bolshevik Revolution, there were Red Scares
Package bombs led to raids and laws against red agitators, anarchists, and immigrants.
Sacco & Venzetti executed (unjustly?) for murder
So… “Back to Normalcy” got Harding elected.
19th Amendment/ Women’s Vote 1920: Susan B. Anthony Amendment
Harding and Republicans revived economy for most (except farmers and veterans)
Scandals in Harding’s cabinet (but he died)
Calvin Coolidge pro-business, boom times for many.
